Rowan Tree

Hi, as a complete newbie, have a question for you experts.

I've been told I should prune back the rowan tree in our garden,
to stop it getting out of hand. Is it fine just to go at it with some shears,
or does it require more care?

Re: Rowan Tree

What a shame! I can't imagine a Rowan "getting out of hand" however if you must prune during the dormant season when the leaves are off, although dead wood can be removed during the summer. Normally these trees only need minimal pruning, just removing dead or dieased wood and any overcrowded branches being the best policy.
